Join us for the Chancellor’s Convocation honoring ƵƬ’s 24th Chancellor, Dr. Estee Aiken, on Thursday, October 22 at 4 p.m. on Legacy Plaza. Open to the UMW campus community and the public, the event will celebrate Chancellor Aiken’s leadership and look ahead to the future of ƵƬ.
Featuring remarks from Chancellor Aiken, the Convocation will reflect on ƵƬ’s rich history while embracing the opportunities ahead. The event’s theme, “Inspired by our Past. Ready for our Future,” celebrates the traditions, people, and experiences that have shaped ƵƬ and the vision that will guide the University into its next chapter.
A community reception will follow the Convocation in the Lewis and Clark Room.

Chancellor’s Convocation FAQ
The Chancellor’s Convocation is a gathering of the community to celebrate the university’s past, present, and future and to welcome its 24th Chancellor, Dr. Estee Aiken. The word convocation comes from the Latin convocatio, meaning “a calling together,” which reflects the event’s purpose of bringing together students, employees, alumni, friends, and community members for a shared celebration.
All are welcome to attend! The Chancellor’s Convocation is free and open to the entire ƵƬ campus community and members of the public.
The theme is “Inspired by Our Past. Ready for Our Future.” It celebrates the traditions, people, and experiences that have shaped ƵƬ while highlighting the vision and opportunities that will guide the university into its next chapter.
An RSVP is requested only for those planning to attend the community reception in the Lewis & Clark Room.
